BOSTON - The Boston Red Sox [team stats] honored 18 members of the U.S. Olympic team with New England ties during a brief on-field ceremony before the game against the Baltimore Orioles.
The Olympians were each introduced and walked from the edge of the Red Sox dugout and onto the field, where they stood behind the pitcher’s mound for the national anthem Monday night.
The seven medalists from the group then each threw out a ceremonial first pitch.
The event was attended by Elle Logan, a gold winner in rowing; Emily Cross, a silver medalist in team foil; Michelle Guerette, who won silver in women’s sculls; Tim Morehouse, a silver medalist in fencing; Alicia Sacramone, a silver medalist in women’s team gymnastics; Rhonda Rousey, a bronze winner in judo; and Dan Walsh, also a bronze medalist, in rowing.
